Ultimate Grilling Cheeses
Summer is officially here! That means it’s time to dust off the grill, fire up the propane tank, and start grilling. Burgers, steaks, and hot dogs aren’t complete without their cheesy partners. Here’s some of our favorite grill-friendly cheeses this summer:
Cheeses to melt…
Prairie Breeze Cheddar
This beauty from Iowa is quite possibly our favorite cheddar ever. It’s tangy, nutty, and just a tad sweet. Shave it over your burger for a little extra umph. It’s a beautiful melter and isn’t greasy like your average cheddar when melted.
Ilchester Smoked Cheddar
English cheddar rubbed in a secret blend of spices, giving it a pleasantly smoky taste. Smoke plays so well with meat. Melt it over your hot dog, burger, or sausage.
Point Reyes Original Blue
The sweet cream flavors of this bold blue cheese are highlighted when melted atop a juicy steak or burger. We guarantee it’s blue punch and peppery bite make you want more.
The ultimate melting cheese. This iconic Swiss cheese’s brown buttery, nutty flavors pair perfectly with beef, pork, and chicken.
Some other great melting cheeses…Grafton Smoked Cheddar, Challerhocker, Fontina val d’Aosta, Taleggio, Havarti, Roquefort, Cambozola Black Label, and more.
Cheeses to grill…
This traditional Grecian favorite has been dubbed ‘the grilling cheese’ for its unique ability to resist melting at high temps. Flavors are mild and briny, with a springy, crunchy texture (when grilled). Throw it on the grill and pair with fresh watermelon and mint, or jazz up kabob night by cubing, skewering and grilling.
Another Grecian favorite, Kasseri is absolutely delicious when grilled. However, it doesn’t reallllly make the cut as a grilling cheese. You have got to pay very close attention to it, or else it’ll all melt away. It’s mild, tangy, and salty. Pair it with seasonal vegetables and a squeeze of lemon juice.
Brooklyn Brine Pickles
These artisanal pickles from NYC have stolen our heart. Try all three varieties- NYC Deli, Damn Spicy, and Whiskey Sour.
High-quality mustard from France. Try all of our favorite flavors- Dijon, Tarragon, Honey Balsamic, Dijon Walnut. Mustard loves meat.
Preservation & Co Pickled Vegetables
Balsamic Beets and Hickory Brussels Sprouts. The perfect accompaniment to your back-yard BBQ!
